Shipwreck Series

This pottery collection was inspired by everything Titanic. I’ve been obsessed with the Titanic since I was a little girl, and I have no idea why. Not the movie (though I was obsessed with that too, hello Leo), but the actual tragedy. So this collection is very near and dear to my inner child.

I kept this collection broad in terms of interpretation. Some pieces highlight the literal translation of shipwreck to clay, with the rust flashes of color, sculpted rivets, and ash wood-fired details to make the a decaying porcelain effect; while some pieces are more functional but have nods to sea foam washing along a shoreline or soft ripples of wind across the surface of the water. Despite the vast array of styles among this collection, I designed the pieces to compliment and play off of each other to make a complete series.
